bus·y /bizē/
adjective
1.
having a great deal to do.
"Residents at New Pond Village were very busy during the month of September"
synonyms: occupied, engaged, hard at work.
Yes, we were the very definition of busy this month! Our programming calendar was jam-packed with concerts, outings and in-house programs that kept us on our toes every day.
ELVIS IS IN THE BUILDING
We kicked off the month with Elvis Presley. I must admit I was apprehensive about booking an Elvis impersonator, but I decided to roll the dice and take a chance. I knew the concert would be either a hit or a total miss, there's no room for in between when it comes to Elvis. Luckily the King laid my worries to rest and it turned out to be a fantastic show! Check-out the videos and photos below to see for yourself.
HIGH TEA
Cucumber sandwiches, petit fours, scones and a variety of teas were on the menu during our recent tea party in Aldridge. If you didn't make it, be sure to join us again on Monday, October 24 at 2:00pm.
SCOTTISH FOLK BAND - NORTH SEA GAS
North Sea Gas is only in the United States for 6 weeks during their U.S. leg of their world tour. We were very fortunate to have them play for us right here at New Pond. Enjoy the video below!
NORDIC WALKING IN BIRD PARK
Led
by Karen Swan, the residents who participate in the Nordic Walking
program took their poles to beautiful Bird Park in Walpole. It was a
perfect fall day for a walk in the park and was capped off with lunch at
Panera Bread.
CHOWDER COOK-OFF
Three talented chefs from the New Pond Village kitchen put their best chowder forward in our recent Chowder Cook-Off. Each chef was asked to create their version of clam chowder, adding their own personal style to the mix. Residents were asked to sample each soup and vote for their favorite...
We are especially proud of our ballot box, it's a paper mache clam shell! Mary Annati's talented daughter Cassy made it specifically for our event - thank you Cassy!
Like all Chowder Cook-Offs, there can only be one winner....
Congratulations to Kevin McKenna!
You are now the proud owner of "The Golden Clam".
CAPE COD CENTRAL RAILROAD
Residents enjoyed the train ride in Cape Cod which offered on-board narration, scenic views of cranberry bogs, sand dunes and the Cape Cod canal.
HARVEST DANCE
The Wildwood Jazz Band provided smooth jazz tunes while the dancers from the Metronome Ballroom kept the dance floor filled throughout the evening. It was a lovely way to conclude our "busy" month.
See you again in October!
Nice pictures,Katie. Sorry I missed the dance--I was in Texas enjoying our annual banquet for the Navy reunion.
